Traxx add over 16 mm of ground clearance to TRX-4. Functioning similar to portal weights, Traxx position weight down low for improved stability. TRX-4 with Traxx also has an effectively longer wheelbase that increases the breakover angle for additional stability while climbing up steep grades.
Traxx is the ultimate high performance track solution that features an adjustable tension wheel to keep the treads tight while suspended road wheels conform to surface irregularities. Oil-filled dampers control rotational movements to keep the treads glued to the surface.
Rugged and fully waterproof, the installed LED light kit features a chassis-mounted LED lighting module for modular expandability as well as consistent and reliable power output. The included headlights, tail lights, and 28-LED rooftop light bar open the door to night trail runs for added adventure.
The portal axles use gear reduction at the wheels to virtually eliminate torque twist. The Titan 550 motor’s torque translates into straight, powerful, forward motion, rather than wasted energy twisting your rig right off the rocks.
When negotiating a slick rock face or powering through a mud bog, traction is king. TRX-4 comes outfitted with differential spools in the front and rear for ultimate grip when you need it most. Locked differentials improve flotation over soft surfaces such as sand by keeping your tracks traveling at the same speed so that a slower moving track does not dig down into the surface.
TRX-4's single speed transmission is already set up for most driving conditions with Traxx. Steel gears provide Traxxas-Tough durability and virtually maintenance-free operation.
A heavy-duty formed-steel ladder frame with molded cross members creates an extremely rigid backbone. The thicker steel combined with the cross members provide a difference you can feel on the trails when navigating punishing, twisting terrain.

Outfitted with Traxx, TRX-4 transforms into an all-terrain monster. The enormous contact patch and grippy treads shrug off the deepest mud and float across sand. Traxx increases ground clearance and approach angles to let you straddle even larger obstacles and climb steeper grades without breaking a sweat.
The pre-installed LED light kit features headlights, taillights, and a wide 28-LED rack-mounted light bar. Fully waterproof for all-weather adventure, the LED light kit keeps the fun going long after the sun sets. The injection molded grill and tailgate feature integrated lenses for additional scale detail and rugged functionality.
TRX-4 with Traxx includes an entire complement of scale accessories. Along with a tough and functional Expedition Rack, the truck comes outfitted with a replica snorkel, side mirrors, traction boards, fire extinguisher, jack, and canisters for extreme scale detail. Inner fenders give TRX-4 a realistic appearance for maximum impact.
A thick 1.5 mm steel ladder frame with molded cross members provides exceptional torsional rigidity to resist even the worst chassis twisting articulation. This extremely rigid backbone lets the suspension do the work it was designed to do. You’ll feel the difference on trails where the elimination of chassis flex allows for navigating technical terrain.
The innovative shock towers allow four separate “bolt-on” wheelbase positions: 300, 312, 324, and 336 mm to accommodate custom body fitment. Further fine tuning is possible with the axle links and adjustable shock position.
The finer details matter so we incorporated wire retainers into the frame rails, which provide a clean look and keep the wiring more secure from off-road hazards.
TRX-4’s main battery tray accommodates a full-length 5000 mAh 3-cell LiPo or 7600 mAh 2-cell LiPo for extended run times or smaller 1/16 scale Traxxas batteries for reduced weight. A hinged battery strap provides quick and secure battery mounting without pins to lose in the field. The innovative strap flips over to adjust for different height batteries. A secondary front-mounted battery tray accepts smaller 1/16 scale Traxxas batteries to position weight directly over the front axle for maximum climbing traction on technical climbs.
Tough inner fenders and floor pans mount directly to the frame to provide substantial look and feel to TRX-4. The authentic realism adds to the fun while also helping to keep rocks, mud, and twigs out of the chassis.

Thick 5 mm diameter steel links feature tough, fully-captured heavy-duty rod ends with steel hollow balls for exceptional strength and durability. This is one rig that won’t strand you on the trail with a broken suspension link.
TRX-4 uses tough hex hardware throughout for improved strength and easy servicing. For extreme environments, consider using the Stainless Steel Hardware Kit (8298).
Exclusive to TRX-4 models, portal axles lift the differential pumpkin to provide incredible ground clearance. This radical design also improves axle geometry and reduces strain on the driveshafts. Steel gears ensure trouble-free performance, no matter how technical the climb.
On conventional rigs with the limited gear reduction in the differentials, motor torque is applied to the frame to the point of twisting you right off the rocks. TRX-4’s radical portal axle design reduces the gear ratio at the wheels, virtually eliminating torque twist through the chassis. Total axle gear reduction is over twice non-portal designs so Titan motor torque delivers smooth forward motion, not frame twist.
Full-time locked front and rear differentials transform the motor’s torque into unstoppable climbing action. With no slippage possible, all four tracks claw with equal grip, powering TRX-4 over the toughest obstacles.
The single-speed transmission is geared low for the raw torque required to scale the steepest grades. Steel gears provide the Traxxas-Tough durability that keeps you on the trail.
Hardened steel U-joints on the front and rear driveshafts provide smooth, reliable power delivery for non-stop fun.
A twin friction plate slipper clutch provides some additional protection from motor stalls in extreme crawling conditions.
Black sealed ball bearings resist mud and dirt to keep your rig rolling smoothly. The installed Traxx uses low-maintenance self-lubricating bushings on guide wheels for added rust resistance.
TRX-4’s radical portal axle design raises the driveshafts higher to improve axle geometry and reduce driveshaft angles. Higher driveshafts and suspension links pass over obstacles to avoid high-centering your truck and reduce overall grinding wear.
The steering link and drag link attach high on the portal axles, raising them away from possible damage. This allows TRX-4 to attack obstacles head on, reducing the risk of hitting the steering linkage on rocks.
The superior 45° steering angle negotiates around even the tightest bends with ease. This helps avoid awkward reversing maneuvers in tight spaces.
The installed Traxx provides a staggering 76° approach angle in the front with an equally impressive 76° departure angle. An 81° breakover angle provides extreme capability when cresting steep hills. The longer rear Traxx drive units allow added stability on steep climbs to reduce rollovers.
Traxx, riding on portal axles, help raise the center ground clearance to an unparalleled 3.54 inches (90 mm), while raised suspension links and driveshafts clear the rocks underneath. Superior capability equals more fun no matter where your adventure takes you.
TRX-4’s large 550 size brushed 21-turn Titan motor provides smooth reliable power and loads of torque to climb the toughest obstacles. The front mounted orientation moves the weight bias forward to get you up and over obstacles with improved traction.
HV stands for compatibility with the high-voltage 3s LiPo battery packs for greater efficiency and power. In addition to the three standard profiles (Sport, Race, Training Mode®), the XL-5 HV features a Trail profile that serves up a little bit of drag brake for smooth intuitive driving for most of your adventures. A new Crawl profile introduces hill hold and instant reverse for extremely technical courses. Either will help you navigate the trail with ease.
Torque rules the trail! TRX-4’s massive Titan 21T motor pumps out huge torque to get you up and over anything that gets in the way. An integrated cooling fan keeps temperatures down for extended run times.
The waterproof high-torque 2270 steering servo features 236 oz-in of torque to turn the Traxx with maximum authority. A ball-bearing supported output gear delivers precise control with the added durability of a full-metal-gear drivetrain.
