Rustler 4X4 VXL’s heavy-duty slipper clutch uses alloy pressure plates and high-temperature aluminum pads for superior power handling. The slipper clutch delivers equal power distribution front to rear for instant throttle response through the drive system and aggressive four-wheel-drive grip.
The super-efficient shaft-driven four-wheel-drive system uses an extruded aluminum center driveshaft that joins the front and rear differentials with smooth-running internal splines.
If Rustler 4X4 VXL should happen to land rubber side up at some point, just press a button on the TQi transmitter and in most circumstances, Rustler will flip itself back onto its wheels in seconds. Traxxas’ patented self-righting feature keeps the fun going and no one else has it!

Rustler 4X4 VXL uses a clipless body latching system for secure mounting and fast, one-handed removal and installation. The sleek, aerodynamic body features a rugged internal structure and external rollover protection for long life and Traxxas-Tough™ durability.
Rustler 4X4’s modular chassis features front and rear bulkheads that remove easily with just a few screws. In less than a minute using a power screwdriver, you’ll have full access for easy service and adjustment.
A sensorless Velineon 3500 kV motor delivers extreme performance with nearly zero maintenance. Ultra high-temperature Neodymium magnets, high-speed bearings, and a precision, 4-pole balanced rotor deliver smooth running and long life.
The waterproof Velineon VXL-3s speed control is packed with technology to deliver maximum power. Large heat sink, integrated on/off switch, and three programmable drive profiles top the feature list. Two-stage low voltage detection allows full LiPo compatibility, including powerful 11.1-volt 3s packs!
Rustler’s innovative waterproof receiver box allows easy access to the receiver. The antenna and servo wires route neatly through a patented watertight seal to protect the receiver from water. No matter what the weather, Rustler 4X4 is ready for action!
The TQi 2.4 GHz radio system stores up to thirty models in memory, allowing you to use one transmitter for your entire RC garage. Integrated telemetry ports in the receiver transmit real-time data to the TQi transmitter when using the Traxxas Link™ App and telemetry sensors (sold separately). In the event of signal loss, the receiver automatically returns the throttle to neutral and holds the last steering position.
Rustler’s large 2.8″ black chrome wheels provide terrain-conquering ground clearance and a commanding presence. Talon™ EXT tires have a square-shouldered, aggressive tread design to dig into gravel, dirt, and grass for incredible 4X4 traction and huge roost.
Oil-filled Ultra Shocks™ utilize dual X-ring technology for a perfect seal and silky-smooth performance. The large oil capacity and rugged design soaks up big jumps and off-road abuse for smooth driving performance. They are easy to tune with a wide range of available oils, springs, and pistons.
Rustler 4X4’s innovative motor mount holds the Velineon 3500 motor securely in place and yet releases instantly with just one screw. Gear-mesh adjustments are fast and easy.
Rustler 4X4 VXL’s extreme speed and quick reflexes require a steering servo that’s both strong and fast. The included digital high-speed, high-torque servo features ball bearings for precise control and quick reflexes.
Rustler 4X4 VXL’s sealed front and rear differentials utilize steel-gear internals for maximum durability. Silicone gaskets and X-ring seals allow you to tune the amount of locking action by varying the viscosity of the fluid inside the differentials.
Tough reinforced bumpers protect the chassis against impacts. The specially designed front bumper provides a high approach angle that allows the Rustler to climb up and over obstacles with ease. The rear bumper mounts a perfectly positioned wheelie bar to help prevent Rustler 4X4 VXL from back-flipping from its explosive power.
Heavy-duty suspension arms are stronger than ever before. Molded from a tough new composite material, the arms stand up to even the most punishing drivers and resist breakage for non-stop fun behind the wheel.
A one-piece extruded aluminum driveshaft is both strong and lightweight. Internal splines fit directly onto the input shafts of the front and rear drive assemblies. Altogether, this shaft runs straight and true for ultra-smooth driveline operation.
Progressive rate springs are lighter through the initial range of travel to maintain traction and composure over small ruts and bumps. Hit the big jumps and the springs tighten up to prevent bottoming out the chassis at the extreme ranges of the suspension travel.
Rustler 4X4’s Maxx-duty driveshafts with beefed-up U-joints are built to handle brushless power without breaking a sweat. Large 6 mm axles key into the included steel wheel hexes for unmatched strength and durability.
A dual-bellcrank design pivots on rubber-sealed ball bearings for smooth action in the harshest conditions. The integrated cam-type servo saver protects the servo gears from crash impacts without sacrificing steering precision.
Designed from the start to handle big brushless horsepower, Rustler’s 4X4 driveline uses a rugged spur gear with large 0.8 module/32-pitch teeth for reliability no matter how much power you pour on.
Rustler 4X4 uses the same heavy-duty steel 4 mm turnbuckles developed for the Slash 4X4. Broad flat sections make toe and camber adjustments easy with the included wrench. The fully captured rod ends take a beating and won't pop apart during rigorous off-road pounding.
Rustler’s painted ProGraphix® body comes trimmed and pre-painted with the decals already applied. Tough internal reinforcements maintain the body’s integrity while roof skids provide rollover protection to keep the body looking fresh.
The functional rear wing reduces drag while still providing valuable downforce for high speed stability. The wing mounts directly to the internal body reinforcements for lasting durability.
Rustler’s clipless ProGraphix body mounts on specially designed shock towers. The easy-to-use latch unlocks instantly with the quick swipe of a thumb and locks again with a noticeable detent to let you know it’s securely fastened.
Rustler’s innovative battery hold-down features a beefed-up latch for solid locking action to keep batteries secure no matter how wild the action gets.
Maximizing speed requires as little friction as possible. Rustler 4X4 rides on precision rubber-sealed bearings for super low-friction performance and maximum protection in dusty environments. They are used throughout the truck and are virtually maintenance free.
A wheelie bar is an absolute necessity on a vehicle with the power and speed potential of Rustler 4X4 VXL. The reinforced wheelie bar provides additional impact resistance for the bumper and also protects the wing during 100-foot wheelies.
Rustler’s fixed gear adapters take the guesswork out of setting your gear mesh with five preset gearing positions. Insert the motor screw through the desired gearing position for a perfect gear mesh every time. The fixed positioning also keeps the gear mesh tight, even after the harshest landings.
Rustler 4X4 VXL comes outfitted with the Extreme Heavy Duty Upgrade Kit already installed for ultimate strength and durability. The axle carriers, C-hubs, and steering blocks are beefed up with more material and stronger construction.
