1/10 SCALE R/C PORSCHE 934 (1976) 50th ANNIVERSARY

Rewind back to 1976: the Porsche 934 was Tamiya first R/C car model. Based upon the Porsche 930 Turbo, the full-size car was developed to compete in international Group 4 sports car racing in that same year. Of the 31 examples produced of this dominant car, a number were run by private teams including that of Kremer Racing, which featured German air conditioning company Vaillant as its main sponsor, in a distinctive cobalt green livery that also featured their rabbit mascot. It took victory in Division 1 drivers’ standings for that season. The Tamiya R/C model was also massively popular, and we celebrate 50 years since its release with this special model featuring a realistic body and a chassis inspired by the full-size Porsche 934.

• The classic form of the 934 is captured breathtakingly in polycarbonate.
• Separately molded light cases can be fitted with LEDs (sold separately).
• Side mirrors are made up of 2 parts, with a sticker to recreate the mirror surface.
• A cockpit and driver parts set is included for installation.
• Stickers depict rear combination lights, while the rear has metal-plated light case parts compatible with separately sold LEDs.
• The separately molded rear spoiler gives a super-realistic finish.
• Mesh design two-piece +2 offset front wheels have plated rims and are paired with medium-narrow racing radial tires.
• Rear wheels are also a two-piece design. Their +5 offset helps recreate that classic wide Porsche stance.
• The chassis is based around a lower deck with integrated main and rear frames. The motor is at the back in an RR layout.
• The 3-piece steering linkage uses turnbuckle shafts. 630 ball bearings ensure smooth motion.
• Front double wishbone suspension uses TRF420 lower arms.
• Black TRF dampers are paired with a stabilizer.
• The motor (sold separately) is place at the rear in a longitudinal mount reminiscent of that of the full-size car.
• The motor guard design is inspired by the cylinders on the full-size 934’s horizontally-opposed 6-cylinder engine.
• Power goes from the motor (sold separately) via a shaft to the front spur gear, and then back to the differential via a second shaft.
• The rear trailing arm setup is inspired by the real 934, and has carbon fiber-reinforced arms.
• The rear also features TRF dampers and a stabilizer.
• The chassis underside is inspired by the panel design on the actual 934.
• Magnetized body mounts are included for those who don’t wish to put holes in their finished body.
• Two big sticker sheets and masking stickers are included.
• The kit comes with a limited edition serial numbered name plate in stainless steel.
• The package is inspired by the Tamiya original from 50 years ago.

RR chassis

The original Tamiya model of the 934 paired a 1/12 scale plastic model body with a duralumin chassis and plastic deck for the R.C equipment; this 50th anniversary model has made the change to 1/10 scale and uses a lightweight polycarbonate body with a dedicated new chassis. Its reinforced plastic lower deck with integrated main and rear frames has the motor (sold separately) lengthwise at the rear-center powering the rear wheels much like on the real car. This model uses a 230 mm wheelbase, but the rear can be reconfigured to put it into a 251 mm wheelbase setup. The 4-wheel independent suspension uses front double wishbone and rear trailing arm setups with TRF dampers and stabilizers, while the drivetrain features multiple ball bearings and universal shafts for efficient drive.
