When LiPo battery technology first arrived in the hobby, it brought electric RC to new heights of power and performance. But it also came with increased complexity, and reduced convenience. Charging LiPo packs used to be crazy, with a workbench that was just an octopus of wires and plugs. Settings could be tricky, and getting something wrong would mean damage to the battery. That was the inspiration for the iD system - the charger should be able to tell what it’s charging. Traxxas iD batteries and chargers are designed to work together. Just plug in the battery, NiMH or LiPo, and the charger recognizes the chemistry, capacity, and cell count and sets itself accordingly. And there are no balance plugs or boards to hassle with; the unique Traxxas High-Current Connector incorporates balancing into its design for truly goof-proof, hassle-free charging—with superior safety. You never have to worry about choosing the right setting; just plug in the pack, and hit Start.
More Driving, Less Charging
In addition to safety, simplicity, and convenience, Traxxas engineers wanted iD chargers to offer speed—as in quick charge times. High-capacity LiPos and low-output chargers make for long charge times, but everyone wants to get back to driving ASAP. By nature, LiPos can handle higher charge rates than NiMH packs, so iD chargers deliver higher amperage to get you back in action faster. MAXX® Power
Faster charging means more time behind the wheel. The new MAXX Charge feature takes full advantage of LiPo batteries’ high charge rates. Press the MAXX Charge button if available on your charger and the right side charges at the maximum charge rate the battery will allow (up to 16 amps). The left side receives the remaining power until the right side finishes and then the left side switches to MAXX power mode. This innovative design gets one battery ready in nearly half the time so you’re back in the action having fun.
